I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Fitzwilliam College, University of Cambridge, working in the Department of Biochemistry. As well as being a private tutor, I teach part of the Natural Sciences Tripos at the University of Cambridge and supervise part III research projects.

My current research focuses on studying the molecular mechanisms governing ribosome stalling during protein production under stress using model organism Schizosaccharomyces pombe. I completed my PhD in Biological Sciences in 2023, and then completed a 6 month Postdoctoral Research Fellow position at the University of Warwick, where I used CRISPR-Cas gene editing to engineer virus-resistant Brassica crops.

Throughout my academic journey, I have been passionate about education and mentoring, which led me to take on various teaching and tutoring roles. I have experience working with students at different levels, from GCSE to university, helping them develop a deep understanding of complex scientific concepts. I've also volunteered a big portion of my time to mentoring students, including formally through mentoring schemes at the University, and Target Oxbridge.

Sessions with me will be interactive with the possibility to ask questions and talk about the material at all times so that any confusion about the topic can be addressed. In particular, I like to promote a scientific-based approach to learning, on top of focusing on exam preparation, which is exactly what universities look for and prepares you for your desired career.

I am not just a tutor, but also a coach and mentor. I am able to build a good rapport with my students and help them develop their confidence. This often has a positive influence on their performance in other subjects as well.

I am currently a full-time researcher at the University of Cambridge, with my contract running from February 2024 to February 2027. Once my workday finishes—typically around 4 PM—I like to continue working in the evenings.

When I’m not tutoring, I love trying out new restaurants, exploring the local sights, and working on my Mandarin!
